Automatic Door Functionality and Switch Accessories in 2025

In general, automatic doors operate in conjunction with sensors that detect motion and trigger the door to open. However, as of 2025, advancements in technology have led to the development of various types and functions for automatic doors, enhancing their usability and efficiency.

One such innovation is the introduction of automatic door switch accessories, which provide additional functionality to improve the overall performance of automatic doors.

What is an Automatic Door Switch Accessory?

An automatic door switch is an additional device designed to be used alongside an automatic door system. It is connected to the automatic door controller and enhances its operation by offering different activation methods, making door usage more convenient and efficient.

Types of Automatic Door Switches in 2025

Automatic door switches are categorized into three main types:

  • Touchless Switch

  • Wave-to-Open Switch

  • Push Button Switch

  • Touchless Switch

A touchless switch operates without any physical contact. Users simply place their hand near the switch within a range of 10 cm to 30 cm. However, the hand must remain steady and not move back and forth, as excessive movement may prevent the door from opening. Keeping the hand still for 1-2 seconds will activate the switch, allowing the door to open.

  • Wave-to-Open Switch

A wave-to-open switch functions similarly to a touchless switch but offers improved responsiveness. Unlike the touchless version, this switch detects hand movements, meaning users can simply wave their hand in front of the sensor to trigger the door to open. This provides enhanced usability and a more seamless user experience.

  • Push Button Switch

A push button switch differs from both the touchless and wave-to-open switches. This type requires direct physical contact, where users must press the switch with their hand to send a signal to the automatic door controller, activating the door mechanism.
